Mission Statement
The mission of Habitat for Humanity of Kent County is to strengthen families and communities in service to God through
partnerships, healthy house building and affordable homeownership. In 2008 we are commited to build all LEED certified
homes.
Description
Established in 1983 we are an affiliate of Habitat for Humanity International. A local Board of Directors sets policy
and the vision for the organization. We are the only homebuilding nonprofit in Kent & Eastern Ottawa Counties that
targets families who make 30% to 50% of the are median income. Our families must demonstrate an ability and willingness to
repay the mortgage, be willing to partner with Habitat in the work and have a demonstrated need for improved housing.
We are ranked 14th out of 1700 national affiliates and are leading the way in sustainable design, or "green" homes.
Habitat for Humanity of Kent County gets a four star rating on www.CharityNavigator.org an independent non-profit rating
service.
